Lately I have been thinking a lot about what makes my husband look forward to coming home after a long hard day at work!? Many things roll through this brain! But I want to share a personal experience that took place not so long ago!
I purposed to quit what I was doing when the children yelled, "Mom, Dad's home!" And to go out to meet him before he came in and if possible to even beat the children out the door or at least right at the door way! And I would always greet him with a kiss!! I'd also have either an iced coffee or hot cocoa or a glass of iced water to hand to him! Well a week or so passed and I done really well then life happened and I got side tracked it seemed like every night right at that time and before I realized it I had gotten out of the habit of meeting him with a drink (even if it was just water). While a week or so went by and one night Moine and I got to talking. Moine said, " Honey, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to tell you but I want you to know that you stopping what your doing and coming to meet me when I get home really means a lot to me! And the special drink you'd bring me was always a special bonus!"
Opps, I felt awful! He didn't mean to make me feel that way he just knew if he waited longer I'd ask him why he didn't tell me sooner! So he was just sharing his heart cause he knew I'd want to know!
It did me good to hear it and I realized how much it truly did mean to him! So ladies I challenge you to stop what you are doing when he gets home from work and go meet your husbands! Focus completely on HIM!! And when you can meet him with a drink that you know would be special even if its just ice water or coffee! It realy only takes a few minutes and means so much!!
I'm thankful I have the opportunity to be able to do this cause at one point in my life I couldn't and I know there are some of you who will read this that don't have that opportunity each night! I'm so blessed!! I will continue to go meet my husband daily if at all possible! Blessings to each of you as you continue to try to make your husbands feel special and loved!
And to any husbands who read this wives (or most wives) love to be brought something special home to them as well! My husband has numerous times come home and when I met him he would hand me (not all in one night but these are things that he knows I don't get often and are special treats to me so one at a time or a couple at a time only) a single rose or another flower, a bouquet of roses, or just a bouquet of a variety of flowers, a fountain pepsi from a gas station, chocolate 'reeses most times' and other special items! While trucking he brought me home a shirt and ect...! Blessings to you all as you continue to make your wives feel special and loved!
One thing someone told us when we got married was just cause your married doesn't mean you stop pursuing each other! Keep Pursuing the love of your life!! Blessings to all!

An Overwhelming night...
A supper were little was eaten and no unkind words were spoken...
Supper time came and I noticed my youngest daughter had eaten about 4 times the amount of supper then my husband had eaten. He hadn't eaten much at all. I soon began to feel really bad so I offered to make him a salad or go make him something else but he politely says, "No, its okay! You worked so hard today and made supper this is just fine no need to make me anything else!" We all left the table and bless his heart he never went and ate an ice cream or anything else either.
Moine soon showered and went on to bed. I knew that he had to be hungry. I mean seriously he only ate like 5 bites of supper. I went on about my night, preparing his lunch as much as I could for the next day and put the children to bed!
I was thinking how he could of complained or even went and got himself something to eat but nope he didn't. He also had no mean word to say to me and was very sweet and kind. I was so touched! It brought tears to my eyes as I crawled in beside him knowing he went to bed feeling hungry cause he didn't want to risk hurting or making me feel bad for what I made for supper. It was a huge hit with the children!
I decide to wake Moine up and see if he wanted to eat a special dish of food with me! I said, "Honey, would you like to wake up long enough to enjoy this with me?" He woke up his eyes got big and he said, "Sure!" So we enjoyed a midnight snack together!!
After several piecies Moine looks up at me and says," Thank You so much hunny that hit the spot! Now I think I can actually sleep!"
I was so glad I had woken him up and we could have a special treat together! This incident has stuck with me and I'm sure it will for a very long time!
I had to think of how Jesus gave up so much too for YOU and ME and He done it for FREE, NO complaining and He was hungry too. I was very overwhelmed!! I thank my in-laws for such an amazing husband!!! I'm so Blessed!!
Thank You Jesus for All you've done and do for me!

How do I respond to what God allows?
What has God allowed you to go through? Why do you think he has allowed these things? As I lay here typing my heart aches. I hurt for many friends and family my heart goes out to them. My heart especially goes out to my husband who has been through so much! Especially in the last 6 months. Many unanswered questions but God is good! One thing Moine said this week that really struck me was;"Am I Job? No! Through all of Jobs trials he sinned not! I have not had to endure near all that Job has so if Job can endure so can I!!"
I'll give you a quick background to why he said this. January 2013 he had an accident due to seizures so was without work until March. March through June he did mechanical work for the same boss he had driven for but things got to slow and he got laid off. Moine did a bunch of odd jobs where ever he could find work! He got to help several people and really enjoyed that! No steady income was very stressful on my husband (as I'm sure it would be on most men) as he wanted to make sure all our needs were met! In August I had my ear issue and had to go see an ENT . Moine also started a new job! the middle of August!! The pay wasn't near what we had hoped but it was a job and we were /are very thankful for that! Beginning of September we had another medical scare. But we are so thankful and praise God that it wasn't anything more then a real bad infection. And to bring you up to speed last week on Monday the transmission in our family van went bad. it all happened in the drive up at the bank. We were so thankful that we had triple AAA!! They towed our van to the house for us for free!! And thanks to my youngest sister she came and rescued the 4 children and I! On Friday night Moine came home and said," something is wrong with my work van I think it might be the alternator or an idler pulley. We still don't know for sure on that as he was too tired to investigate farther when he got home today after we cleaned out his work van enough so we can go to church together! Moine was also offered another job but even if we really want to take it we don't even have the funds to make the move! Yes, it's in another state.
Tonight was a rather discouraging evening and we felt rather overwhelmed. What do you do in that state of mind? We had to remind each other that although we can't see it right now that God has a reason and a plan for all that He has allowed! Are we strong enough to stand the raging battle that's before us? If you remember God allowed Satan to take away everything from Job including his wife and children but Satan wasn't allowed to touch Job's soul. It was a great reminder for us that God won't put us through more then the Grace He gives us to bear each trial.
In fact we have to say, "We are Blessed!" Things could be so much worse and so were very thankful for these trials or rough times that God takes us through so that we can become more dependate on Christ! We prayed Satan would leave us and get behind us! I believe God takes us through these times to see who were dependate on! Are we dependate on Jesus or someone else? I also believe God takes us through these times to bring us closer to HIM!! He wants to make us BETTER not bitter! But we have to make a choice how we will respond to each situation God takes us through! How will you respond?
Another challenge to us is we have to make the best decisions for our family and how we feel God is calling us to do not what we want to do or what our family and friends think we should do. Am I willing to give all no matter the cost to follow Christ? Are you willing to give all to follow Christ?
Our church has been awesome! Not just this year but through all we've been through since we joined them for this journey called LIFE!! One thing that stands out to our family so much is the many prayers that our church has offered on our behalf and been there for us whenever we need them. Weather it be visiting, meals, prayer, financially or just encouraging us or just a listening ear or a text message!! We are so grateful for our Church family and pray that God will bless them abundantly! We also hope that you have a church where you have the same thing us e support that we have and that you can be that support to your church as well!! If not I challenge you to pray about it! Ask God how You can help your church to be one of these churches or pray that God would help you to find that church that He has for you! A church isn't just a building...The people are the church!!
These are the things that have been running through this brain lately. It was written out for me but I thought I'd share in hopes of encouraging others that they're not alone! There is so much more I could write but I think I'll close for now and maybe start another post!! Hope you all have a great week and remember to let God have full control not the easiest but the most rewarding!! God's the pilot were the copilot!! I also want to say," I think my husband has been amazing through it all! I know its not been easy but he has handled it amazingly well I feel!!
I also want to add through all we've been through God has been amazing and we want to give him all the honor and praise! God said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee!" God also said, "I will supply all your needs according to my riches in glory!" God has been faithful and He has held true too these promises! Sometimes even before we knew the need we'd get what we needed right before we knew the need!! Were so grateful to God!! And thanks to many of you for also being big supporters of ours and for being here for us and encouraging us and for all you've done for us! I've also attached a song that has spoken to us this week!! Blessings until next time~
Update: Sunday morning were in the van ready to leave for church and Moine's work van won't start! So now were pretty sure it is in fact the alternator. Were investigating at the moment!! So we'll continue to Praise God from our hearts!! Happy Sunday everyone!!

Happenings in August 2013
Where has time gone? Over a month has passed and I haven't blogged. I apologize!
Life has been very busy and finds us trying to get into a new routine. A lot has happened since I last wrote so I'm not sure where to start but I'll try to catch ya'll up a bit on our lives then maybe do another blog as well. Well see what time allows.
The biggest news and most exciting for the month of August is that Moine's 6 months of no driving is up!! In some ways it seems like a lot longer but in other ways like it just happened.
August 9th Moine went to fill in an application at Moon Fabricating. Well they wanted him to do a welding test right away. He passed the first welding test with flying colors! They were very impressed!! They asked him if he could be at work at 7:30 am Monday morning (August 12th) and he said sure but don't I need to go do a drug test? They told him no they'll go do that Monday morning. Well Monday morning I had the privilege of packing Moine's lunch again! It had been several years since I got to do it! Moine was home by noon that day which threw me for a loop.
If you never did drugs and your told you failed your drug test how would you feel?? Well we soon realized it was due to the medication they had put Moine on. He worked for a couple hours but when they realized he failed his drug test he had to leave the shop. It took them till Wednesday forenoon to get everything straightened out. They wanted him to come in that day yet but Moine had already made other plans for the day! Moine told them he'd be in first thing Thursday morning!
During the time we were waiting to get Moine's drug test cleared Moine was offered another job. After seeking council and many prayers and tears we finally decided to stay with Moon Fabricating until we feel led to move on. We have felt an amazing peace about our decision! The pay isn't the best but its a job and it helps to cover the bills. Work at the welding shop is starting to pick up and they will soon be going to longer days. Ready or not here it comes! I'm ready for a bit more pay but I'll so miss Moine being home with us earlier in the evenings. But I won't complain cause at least he will be home with us every night!! :) I feel very blessed and fortunate!
Right now Moine's schedule is: 7:30am to 4pm with lunch from 11:30 to noon and then 2 ten minute breaks one at 9am and the other at 2pm. Were not positive but it sounds like next week is when everything changes so well see! I thought we were getting into a routine but it sounds like well have to adjust a bit more. Like I told Moine it can't be any worse then the
flexibility I had to learn to adjust too while he was trucking. lol
August 26th all 4 children started school!! The two oldest are in 2nd grade and the two youngest started Kindergarten. Where has time gone? We decided to try homeschooling again! So far so good! Today finished up our first week and were excitied!! Moine will have to start working Saturdays here soon so I'm considering doing school on Saturdays as well only if he has to work. Just to get ahead so that in the spring when things slow down for him then we won't be so pushed either!
We thoroughly enjoyed having Jacob & Janice Gingerich and children here for a short visit! Our children hit it off and my children were very sad to see them leave. Maybe next time they can stay longer.
Moine also enjoyed doing my brother in laws pig chores for him for a week while he was gone on vacation.
This month I learned you don't take your hearing for granted! The beginning of the month all of a sudden I lost all hearing in my right ear while at church. We ended up leaving and taking the children to my moms and went to the ER right away. They told us at ER that I had a blister filled with blood on my ear drum. They put me on an antibiotic, aleve, a Sudafed and afrin. It still wasn't better the next week so I went to see my family doctor. The doc said the blister wasn't filled with blood anymore but was yellow. So she put me on ear drops and took me off afrin. By that Friday it was some better but still couldn't hear out of it the best. The doc called in a new antibodic for me. The following week it still didn't improve really so my doctor wanted me to see an ENT. The 15th of August I went to see the ENT. They done a hearing test and she said I had really good hearing but when they checked the air waves that run through the ear drums my right ear was only half as good as the left ear. The doc said that the reason my eardrum wasn't healing completely was due to my sinuses not healing completely and it was keeping my eardrum from healing. The ENT put me on an antibodic ear drop and a very expensive nasal spray...I can finally hear again although my ear isn't completely healed it is very close and so much better!! I'm very thankful for my hearing!!
The children are doing good and loving every moment with their dad! They love to get up to help pack their dads lunch and to tell him by. So most days we do get an early start to our day!
This month we were also remind of how short life can be. My sister's niece was killed in a farming accident approx. 2 weeks before her 2nd birthday. If you think of the family please pray for Otto family. I know they'd appreciate it! Thanks.
Well that pretty much sums up August for us! We have learned so much through the last 6 months. If God brings you to it He WILL bring you through it!!! Praising God for His blessings and faithfulness!!!

Rachel's Burn in 2008
Rachel's Burn Sept. 4, 2008
I know this is old but I have had it laying on my heart to share. So here it is for whatever its worth!
On September 4th, 2008 I got up early and made my husband breakfast. He was trucking at the time and had to be leaving early. It was about 5:30a.m.. I might also add here that not quite a month before I had given birth to my youngest son, Myron (on August 7th.)
Moine went out to start his semi and said he'd be back in to grab his coffee and egg sandwich. I don't remember all the details but I do remember my 3 year old daughter, Rachel (almost 4) loved to get up to see her daddy off to work then she'd go back to bed with me. Where we were living at the time it had a cutting board attached to my counter top. I didn't think Rachel could reach it so I pulled it out and after I poured Moine's coffee into his coffee mug for the road I went to put the coffee pot down.
Rachel had seen me several times meet Moine when he came through the door I'd hand him his stuff. So in those few seconds; Rachel decided she wanted to do the same. Now I can't remember if I had the lid on but open or if I hadn't gotten the lid on yet I just can't remember but anyway Rachel grabbed the coffee mug to give to her daddy and literally spilled the whole mug of hot coffee on top of her. I grabbed her and ran to the the bathroom and threw her in the tub screaming for Elona (my sister~in~law who was there helping me since I had just had a baby and was to be leaving in a few days.)
I grabbed Rachel's nightgown and threw it off and turned the shower on cold water and just sprayed her down. What 3 year old likes to be sprayed with cold water at those early hours? So shes crying and screaming and i'm a mess. Thankfully Elona was really quick and flew down the steps and I told her to please run out and get Moine. Moine came flying in .I wanted to go to the ER immediately. I was scared!
Elona (my sil) highly recommended that we see if the Amish store which was close by (a mile and a half away from us) had any burdock leaves and B& W Ointment. I'll be right up front here. I didn't want to go that route. I was worried that if this ointment didn't work that I'd lose my children and etc...etc.... Elona said she had heard a lot of good about this ointment and burn units were even starting to allow it to be used there for a study. Moine felt like we should give it a try because that way we could all be together as a family. Elona agreed that if we went with the ointment she would stay longer and do the dressing changes every 12 hours for me. I thought I was going crazy agreeing to use this ointment.
I finally agreed that I'd give it a try for 24 hours. If there was no improvement then I wanted to go the medical route. While I was very impressed! I wish I would of got photos before we done the first dressing but I was to much of a wreck and Rachel was in too much pain. I'm going to include photos as proof of what God and this ointment done for our daughter!
I would encourage everyone to use this if they get burned!
If you don't have access to the B & W Ointment I can give you the info where you can buy this. But you can also use just plain honey if you don't have the B&W. I pray you never need it but I do keep this B&W ointment on hand at all times now!
This was 24 hours after it happened!
It was already dressed twice!
Yes, those are blisters on her stomach.
The burn on her arm was a 3rd degree burn.
This is 24 hours later also.
Her stomach and chest were considered 2nd degree burns.
Her chin and side were considered 1st degree burns.
24 hours after it happened.
Moine was beside Rachel the whole time while,
Elona redressed it. She was very brave!
In fact braver then me!
She is covered with the B&W ointment
and then burdock leaves then wrapped
in gauze and then wrapped with an ace bandage.
This is now a week later after the accident.
September 11th, 2008
It was looking so much better!
A week later also...Sept. 11th, 2008
Also on Sept. 11th...The rash was from the burdock
leaves. So we ended up boiling grape leaves and using them
until we ran out. We then went with Romaine lettuce leaves.
Rachel's back a week after the burn accident.
It looked so good we quit putting B&W ointment
on her back and and chin and started using self healing cream
on it. but the rest we still used the B&W ointment.
Rachel so happy and waiting to get rewrapped.
As you can see I'm holding Myron who is a little over a month old.
She was a very happy child through it all. The second day she was up
and riding her tricycle around the house. Very bubbly to think she was
burned so bad.
September 14th about a week and a half after the burn accident.
Looking wonderful! We started putting the self healing cream on
all the burns except for the 3rd degree on her arm.
We still did dressing changes with the ointment on that.
Her back a week and a half after the accident.
Rachel showing off how good her burns were looking!
We Praise God for His healing!
A month from the accident! Oct. 4th, 2008
You could barely see where the burn was anymore
so I outlined where the burn was with blue ink!
A month later!
A month later and you couldn't even
tell where she was burned.
Approx. the end of October 2008.
You could barely make out the pink lines
of the burn except for her arm we were still treating
with the self healing cream.
She looked good. I couldn't believe it!
Today you would never know except for one tiny scar where she had her 3rd degree burn on her arm and you can't hardly tell that either. It was quite the journey but God was and still is faithful. Like I said at the beginning I did NOT want to go this route but I have thanked God many times that Elona was here and knew about this stuff! Elona stayed for a couple more weeks and helped out with the dressing changes. It was a very hard time for me. But I praise God for carrying me/us through this valley where we learned so much and grew! Still Praising God!!

Just An Update~from April till now
This was written the beginning of May:
Sorry its been so long since I've blogged. Life happens and now that my husband is home instead of over the road I don't have the time I use to as the time I use to be on the computer I now spend with him. But I thought it was time to at least update y'all a bit!
Just an update!
While life is life! Planting season is in high here in Indiana and seeing my husband grew up on a farm and now has no field work to do, while he misses the it. It seems to bother him more this year then it has in the past 6 years. He wondered why? I told him,"I think its because he's not out driving (working) and watching everyone now he's working inside a shop and hearing the tractors all around him daily and it tugs." Once again he is trying to adjust and except the journey that God has taken us on. He has handled it really well he just has "Those Days!"
While we survived! We made it to Kansas and back! On April 29th my youngest sister came to stay with our children while I drove Moine to Kansas for a mandatory court date. We had a wedding Saturday night so if we wanted to attend the wedding we needed to drive all day Sunday so we could be there in time Monday morning cause our court time was 8:30am Monday morning.
This was a really hard trip for Moine cause he wasn't allowed to drive at all. But I want you to know he handled it very well. He told me where I needed to be when I needed to be told. Not to early and not to late. Perfect timing! He also gave me many other tips that all drivers should know and do but a lot don't. And he told all those tips to me in a very nice way and a way that made learned a lot on this trip. It was really good for me. The first part was really hard cause it was raining and I so would of rather him be driving. The last part I was so tired I wanted him to drive. Thankfully God gave me the strength and alertness and we made it!!
Sunday night when we arrived in Kansas we met a fellow trucker wife who I had gotten to know through facebook. We enjoyed supper together and just getting to know each other in real life. It was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Danielle is a very special lady! Moine and I then went and found a motel for the night. I sure slept good that night!!
Monday morning dawned and we decided we wanted to get up early enough to get a good breakfast. Neither of us had been to Cracker Barrel for a long time so we enjoyed breakfast there. After leaving there we went to find the court house. We found it! Got inside and this place was huge. We were told we needed to go to the 5th floor. We headed up there but it seemed like the wrong place so we went down to double check. While we were down there double checking a lady fell against the elevator door and her head hit the floor. She went completely stiff and you could tell she bit her tongue. The lady was having a grand mal seizure. It was awful. All we could do was stand there. There was absolutely nothing we could do for her. One of the guards went and held her head up and another called 911. It was such a helpless feeling. And I had to count my blessings all over again. I held tight to Moine's arm as we hurried back up to the 5th floor. The poor lady was still passed out when the ambulance got there & she was alone and that's all we know. My heart went out to her and her family. Thankfully everything went well at court and went much better then expected. It was a amazing to see how God worked in the whole situation.
Wow, how time flies! I just realized I never finished my blog in May and its already nearing the end of June. So I'll add another update to this.
While as of June 18th Moine got laid off of his job as they ran out of work. They hated to lay him off but due to circumstances there really was no other option. Blessings to them for giving Moine work for the few months they could. So again we wait on God! God has been amazing through the last several months. You wonder how your going to pay the next bill and before it is due God has once again provided in one way or another. All we can do is stand in amazement and thank God and many friends who have helped us in the last 4 months!! Thanks to each of you for all your prayers, encouragement and for the financial help! We pray each of you will be blessed as you have blessed us! Our God still reigns! Were praying Moine will soon be able to find a full time job that he enjoys as we were told it will be at least 10 years till he could even think of getting his cdl back. In the mean time Moine is helping my brother-in-law when ever he has pigs that need to be loaded up and whatever odd jobs he can find. Now we just wait on God to see what the next chapter of our lives hold. We'd appreciate your prayers when you think of us!Thanks! Until next time~ Rhoda
